Create The Life You Want Part 4: Apply The Law of Polarity

by | Alignment & Flow, blog

Everything in the Universe has a duality or set of opposites. Per the Law of Polarity, opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree and varying degrees in between. We live in a world of duality.

This is the 4th in a seven-part series on how to Create The Life You Want by understanding and applying the 7 Natural Laws of the Universe. This article focuses on the fourth law – the Law of Polarity. Previous articles in the series:

Part 1: Apply the Law of Mentalism

Part 2: Apply the Law of Correspondence

Part 3: Apply the Law of Vibration

Duality Is Everywhere

On the physical plane – Hot and Cold, Light and Dark, Slow and Fast, these are identical just extreme opposites in degree. A magnet has two poles or opposites; a battery has a positive and a negative charge.

On the mental plane – Love and Hate, Happiness and Sadness are opposites of the same quality just very different in degree. Polarity is present in our lives in many ways – e.g., Health and Disease, Wealth and Poverty, and Courage and Fear.

To understand what success feels like you must experience failure. We take for granted our health when we think dis-ease or lose sight of the abundance all around us when we’re in a state of lack. You can’t understand one side fully without experiencing the opposite.

You Are What You Think

We can control these dualities through the power of the mind and the ability to think and shift thoughts. We can change from one degree to the other just by moving our thinking, which adjusts our vibrational frequency.

For instance, when we’re in a state of mind such as “lack,” we can shift our focus to “abundance” just by turning our thoughts to things for which we’re grateful. Modern medical research has shown that gratitude has one of the most active links to mental well-being and happiness over any other attribute we cultivate from within. Fostering gratitude magnifies positive emotions and blocks toxic ones.

There are times where I can spiral into a negative thought pattern without realizing it, which if I’m not careful can turn into worry or fear. Once I catch myself, I immediately start thinking of things that I’m grateful for in my life.

Sometimes when I wake in the middle of the night, I can’t get back to sleep. My mind starts to race, and my whole “state of being” becomes anxious, worried, or even fearful. It drives me crazy. When that happens, I’ve learned to shift the focus of my thoughts by listening to relaxing meditation music. I put in my earbuds. I begin to focus on things for which I’m grateful for in my life, which puts me in a more positive state of mind. It gets rid of the non-sense of that ridiculous negative chatter and feeling, and I become calm, centered, and positive.

There are times in my life where I’ve experienced adversity. For instance, early in my life, when I was about 5 or 6, I had a “thoughtless and ignorant” 1st-grade teacher. She ridiculed me every day in front of the whole class, saying how stupid I was. I knew that wasn’t true. Later I found out I had a hearing problem which affected my ability to learn at the time.

You Can Find the Positives In Any Situation

So how does that bad experience have to do with Law of Polarity? Well, after I got through it, I realized the positives to my predicament. I became very conscientious about my studies and doing well in school. I became conscious of my choices in life. I could choose to continue to feel deflated or “rise” to my best self. I also became aware when others were ridiculed and sought to support them because I wouldn’t want anyone to feel what I felt. The following quote sums it up so well.

“Every adversity, every failure, and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit.”

– Napolean Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich.

And to this day, I have always fought for those less fortunate, especially those who were bullied or ridiculed. That experience made me a better person. The point being – there are positives to every negative situation, even when it may not appear so at the time. It’s the Law of Polarity at work!

Both positive outcomes and transformation can occur in any negative situation. I always look for the positive even when something terrible happens. I ask myself, “what can I learn from this?” and “how can I improve my situation?” I believe there is a reason for a lot of things that occur in life, which is why I ask those two questions. I may not know it at the time, but one thing I do know is that life is a continual journey whereby we learn, grow, and evolve.

Think about your life situation. I bet you can find several instances where you created a positive out of a seemingly negative situation.

When I think back on my life, there are several instances where I could have easily got depressed or shaken by a bad experience.  For example, there was plenty of disappointment, such as not getting some job offers for which I hoped would happen. Instead, I moved forward. I made a conscious choice to shift my thoughts and attitude in a positive direction. Guess what happened? I eventually found opportunities that I wouldn’t have considered, and which led to remarkable experiences in my life.

You must find the right positive triggers and put in the effort. Because, all power in forging your destiny and desired life experiences, start from within you, not without. It begins with your thoughts. Choose positive thoughts, and the Law of Polarity will work in your favor.
