Create The Life You Want – Part 1: Apply The Law of Mentalism

by | blog

All Power is From Within.

“We cannot express powers that we do not possess. The only way by which we may secure possession of power is to become conscious of power, and we can never become conscious of power until we learn that all power is from within.”—Charles Haanel

In the book The Kybalion, it states that…

“The ALL is Mind, everything is mental.”

What this means is that Everything in the Universe is Mental. There is a Universal Consciousness or Universal Mind from which all things manifest.

Our individual minds are part of the Universal Mind.

Everything in the Universe is created with thought or mind and nothing material is created without it.

Everything we see or experience in the physical world has its origin in the invisible or mental realm. You know the familiar saying, “thoughts become things”.

Everything that happens is the result of what we think or our mental state (a series of repeated thoughts and feelings) that we perpetuate.

So, if we’re all part of this Universal Consciousness and the power to manifest resides within each of us, that power is always there, right? That power is our mental energy or the power of thought.

We need to use our power of thought constructively through concentration.

To illustrate the point, a great example is the sun’s rays when concentrated through a magnifying glass.  When you hold a magnifying glass in a single spot with the sun rays pointing through, what happens? It starts a fire through heat coming from the sun. The light from the sun is an electromagnetic wave that carries energy and when concentrated in a single spot it raises the temperature to a level that causes a chemical reaction.

The same holds true for our thoughts. Think of it this way, a thought when repeated over and over is like a seed that has been fertilized ready to germinate. The fertilized seed or thought eventually sprouts and grows, and becomes our reality.

How can you apply the Law of Mentality to begin to embody the life you want?

Be clear on your intentions and what you want in your life. When you’re clear on what you want, you can learn to focus your attention and concentrate your thoughts to manifest the desired effects.

When you’re not clear – haphazard results occur. Sometimes, it’s easy to allow others to influence us as to what we should think or desire. The result, we end up unhappy, confused, and disappointed. We wonder why things never go as we planned because we weren’t clear in our intentions.

Start observing your thoughts. You’ll be surprised at how many thoughts are negative, self-limiting, fear-based, worry-based, and anxiety-based. When you become conscious of your thoughts, you’re fully present in the moment. It is in this moment, that you decide. You can stop those incessant thoughts that aren’t constructive or continue with them and perpetuate the negative emotions they create.

Start shifting those thoughts. Once you notice a thought that’s not constructive, call yourself out on it and shift the internal dialogue. Flip it around to the opposite positive pole.

It’s all too easy for thoughts to be shaped by others particularly at a young age. For example, when I was in the first grade I had a teacher that belittled me at every opportunity in front of the whole class. Even called me stupid because I was struggling to keep up and make any passing grade.

What was not known at the time was that I had a hearing problem that impacted by learning. That’s no excuse for that teacher’s behavior toward me. The sad part? That experience created a pattern of thinking that “I’m not smart enough”, “I’m not good enough” and a lot of other negative self-talk for a long time. To this day, I still struggle with it from time to time, but fortunately, it doesn’t surface as much as it used to.

Don’t be a consumer of everything but rather be a creator that thinks for yourself. Ask yourself, “Do I need to listen to or be influenced by this?” Avoid negative news, slanted news, and programs on TV or movies that lead you into a pattern of thinking that’s not healthy and not your own.

When your thoughts aren’t your own you risk being a pawn in the game of the few leading the masses.
